Data and privacy

Verentis runs on your machine. This page lists what it keeps, what leaves your machine, and the lines it does not cross.

What Where
Companies, contacts, signals, campaigns, conversations, the outbox, the wallet and its ledger data/verentis.db (SQLite)
Committee maps data/maps/ (JSON and Markdown)
Footprint reports data/footprints/
Evaluation reports data/eval/
API keys and passwords .env (never committed)
Dashboard and admin tokens data/dashboard-token, data/admin-token

Every fact is stored with its source URL, the date it was observed and a confidence, so you can always say where something came from.

Only what the services you connect need:

Service Receives
Claude (your subscription) Prompts: public evidence, company facts, reply text, drafts to write.
TypeSafe Jev (if connected) Evidence snippets, the person’s title and, by default, their name. Set committee.jev_mode: roles to replace names with placeholders first.
Serper (if connected) Search queries.
Email verifiers The address to check.
Your mail provider The emails you approve.
Data providers (discovery) Search terms and locations.
  • No LinkedIn. It never fetches, scrapes or automates LinkedIn, and never fetches personal social media.
  • Allow-listed sites only. Footprint checks use a fixed list of professional sites (code, talks, writing, research), and store only URLs, statuses and short headlines, never the page.
  • No sending without approval, unless you turn approval off yourself.
  • No guessed addresses. An address marked guess is never sent to.

When someone opts out, Verentis treats it as immediate and permanent: they are suppressed, their queued emails are cancelled, and their watchlist is deleted. Any wording that asks to stop counts.

You are the sender. In the UK and EU, B2B outreach needs a legitimate interest: the message must be relevant to the person’s role, you must know where their data came from, and objecting must be easy. Put your postal address in your email footer and honour opt-outs. This is not legal advice; for regulated industries or volume, talk to a lawyer.

Every screenshot uses fictional companies and people on a throwaway demo database. No real person’s data appears in these guides.
